While Will manages to keep up through his exceptional swordsmanship and immense physical abilities, the sense of being the only one who’s different never truly fades.
As such, after witnessing Rosty’s tragic death and being confronted with his own limitations, Will questions Professor Workner about why he’s the only one unable to use magic. However, before Workner could respond, Marze brutally attacked them, leaving Workner with a huge hole in his chest. Those mages still struggling against the monsters could only watch in awe, while Will Serfort dashes through the capital, striking down every monster in sight. Without a doubt, Will Serfort surpassed his own limits in the third episode of Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2. Of course, he wouldn’t have been able to unlock his new transformation without Finn’s encouragement and his crucial role in deactivating Will’s limiters. In Finn’s words, Will Serfort can only use a single type of magic, though it’s unlike the elemental magic wielded by everyone else in the anime.
Finn explained that Will Serfort’s magic depends on his will and his courage to keep going on. If he continues to raise his voice and refuses to give in, that magic power only grows stronger. While Finn’s explanations are vague and filled with flowery, ambiguous wording, they still prove effective in lifting Will’s spirits.
