World of Warcraft: Forever Officially Nerfs Popular Classes Before Launch

A new World of Warcraft: Forever patch introduces substantial class changes, including major nerfs to two of the game’s most popular classes. Blizzard’s new “Classic Plus” experience is a game with horizontal progression, no level cap increase to make gear relevant for a long time, brand-new gear options, many quality-of-life features from retail, and new race and class combinations. This is intended as a social MMO first and foremost, according to Blizzard, and it’s why World of Warcraft: Forever emphasizes camping and multiplayer content.

World of Warcraft: Forever Officially Nerfs Mage and Druid Ahead of November 4 Launch

As datamined from the client, World of Warcraft: Forever is nerfing Hunter quite substantially, and now it’s also making massive changes to Paladin, Mage, and Druid. The latter two are catching some big nerfs, and with no way to test how their performance will be before launch, some fans are understandably upset. Chief among the nerfs is the fact that Feral Druid now has a very different talent tree that tries to split Cat Form and Bear Form gameplay even more, and players are losing access to Berserk, which especially nerfs Bear tank builds. The tree now has two capstone talents to replace it, but they are Primal Bite and Shifting Power, making both Cat and Bear builds much less reliable and powerful before level 40. Mage saw several talents being moved around or cut entirely, with the Frost Blast spell removed from the spellbook and Ice Lance getting a damage buff but now having an 8-second cooldown. Critical Mass now grants 6% crit chance instead of 10%, and early talents for Arcane are much less impactful.
