Best weapons tier list in Mortal Shell 2

Mortal Shell 2 has 16 different weapons available for you to unlock, and you can use them freely with all the shells. Divided across two categories, each weapon has its own unique strengths and weakness.

In this guide, I will rank all the weapons according to their in-game effectiveness.

Complete Mortal Shell 2 weapons tier list

To separate the weapons, I have used three different tiers.

  • S-tier weapons are among the strongest in the current meta, and they work well with multiple shells.
  • A-tier weapons are decent alternatives to S-tier options. They also ascend to S-tier with certain shells.
  • B-tier weapons are average choices that require specific setups to excel.

S-tier

Weapon Reason
Axe and Dagger This is the best weapon in the game in my books due to its ability to use Duality Stone and Arbiter’s Prize simultaneously. You get strong damage and easy Resolve generation. I also love the combos you can generate with this weapon, and it works well with any shell that prefers melee builds.
Black Needle Black Needle is a great choice for beginners if you’re yet to master the art of dodges/parries. I love its reach and the base damage that the weapon offers. While I wish there were more options when it comes to Infusions, but that’s manageable.
Axatana Very similar to the Axe and Dagger, the Axatana has amazing combos and also allows you the chance to use the Duality Stone.
Salvaged Trebuchaxe This weapon almost becomes a primary if you’re using a crit-focused build. While the weapon has a frustrating reload mechanism, it has got me out of trouble on more than one occasion.
Caged Hystrix With high fire rate and good bullet capacity, this ranged weapon works well with all shells and builds.

A-tier

Weapon Reason
The Iconoclast This is the easiest weapon to obtain, as you get it from the very start. It has good damage, decent range, and relatively mobile attacks, but it does not specialize in any key areas required for late-game builds.
Clockwork Scythe While the Clockwork Scythe is not very effective against bosses, it’s an incredible choice against mobs. It has great AoE potential, which makes it a good choice when you want to target multiple enemies simultaneously.
Great Martyr’s Blade I don’t like weapons that are slow to use, but the Great Martyr’s Blade makes up for it with astounding attacks. The weapon as the most powerful charged light attacks and impressive AoE damage when you’re going up against mobs.
Triarch Repeater While this weapon behaves similarly to the Caged Hystrix and has the same strength, it’s less reliable when enemies are at a greater distance.
Ballistazooka It offers decent damage, but the capacity is highly limited. If you’re someone who just spams your attacks, this won’t be your cup of tea.
Forgotten Crossbow A very well-rounded weapon that’s reliable and effective against all types of enemies.

B-tier

Weapon Reason
Veteran’s Battle Axe While I am fine with the damage, the axe is incredibly slow, and a single missed attack can turn out to be fatal.
Obsidian Hammer The Obsidian Hammer is so lopsided that I have always failed to use it properly. Despite a high base damage, the slow attacks are too difficult to use effectively against any kind of enemies.
Troubadour’s Lute This weapon is only effective with specific builds utilizes the Confusion mechanic. I haven’t found much use of it, especially with the builds I use.

As of writing, I have yet to assess the Naylshotte and Cursed Child. While both weapons are good, I will want to test them with builds/shells that can utilize them properly.
