Jiraiya was a legendary ninja who worked hard to become one of the strongest fighters in Naruto. When he was still a rookie, nobody believed that he could hit such great heights, but who could blame them? After passing from the Academy, Jiraiya was teamed up with Tsunade and Orochimaru, both of whom were considered prodigies. Jiraiya, in comparison, seemed like an ordinary ninja.
However, his life changed for the better when he reverse-summoned himself to Mount Myoboku. Jiraiya thought of nothing but an accident, but in reality, it was all preordained. The Great Toad Sage had prophesied that Jiraiya would become the teacher of the Child of Destiny, who would save the world from total annihilation. This was a big ask, especially for Jiraiya, who was a free spirit. However, he dedicated himself to training and eventually learned the Toad Sage Mode. With the help of the newly acquired Sage Mode, Jiraiya became one of the strongest ninjas in the world, and he was held in high regard by others. However, he has quickly been power-crept by a new ninja in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Kashin Koji Is Jiraiya But Better
In Boruto, fans learned about the existence of a character named Kashin Koji, who was affiliated with Kara. From the get-go, it became clear that Kashin Koji was not an ordinary ninja and certainly not a person to be trifled with. Any doubts that fans had regarding his strength were cleared in the first half of the story itself. But things got interesting once Kashin Koji was revealed to be a clone created using Jiraiya’s DNA.
The news was shocking, especially since Kabuto failed to reanimate Jiraiya during the Fourth Great Ninja War. So, how did Amado do the impossible and get his hands on the DNA? It is likely that Amado searched the water body where Jiraiya was killed. Upon obtaining the DNA, he created Kashin Koji. Much like Jiraiya, Kashin Koji served a bigger purpose. Amado created him with the sole purpose of taking down Jigen and putting an end to his threat.
Since Amado was aware of Jigen’s might, he made sure that Kashin Koji had the necessary strength to finish the job. One of Kashin Koji’s biggest powers is the Sage Mode, and unlike Jiraiya, he has the perfect version. So Kashin Koji didn’t have to wait for a prolonged period to use it, nor did he have two toads on either shoulder. Like any Sage Mode, Kashin Koji could also use natural energy to bolster the power of his attacks, allowing him to deal significantly more damage. Additionally, the Sage Mode also enhanced his sensory abilities to the point that he could detect almost every attack.
Kashin Koji Has Access To Shinjutsu
While his superiority over Sage Mode alone makes Kashin Koji stronger than Jiraiya, it is worth mentioning that the former has also undergone bodily modifications. Amado fitted Kashin Koji’s body with scientific ninja tools that enabled him to fight against someone like Isshiki Otsutsuki, although he was significantly weakened. Kashin Koji has also received Shibai Otsutsuki’s DNA, which grants him access to Shinjutsu. Initially, he lacked the ability to use it in combat, but after being put through the wringer by Isshiki, he managed to unlock it. Kashin Koji’s Shinjutsu is called Ten Directions. With this power, Kashin Koji is able to see the future. What makes this even more impressive is that the user can see not one, but multiple futures, meaning they can plan for each one accordingly.

Kashin Koji is also skilled at using ninjutsu. He can use almost all the same techniques as Jiraiya, but his versions are more potent and deadly. Koji is even able to use his hair to fight and restrain enemies, although it is not as useful against powerful enemies. Furthermore, Kashin Koji’s physical abilities are a cut above most characters in Naruto.
Kashin Koji Still Has A Role To Play In Boruto
Despite not being able to fulfill his mission to take down Jigen alone, Kashin Koji still has an important role to play in the series. Fans who are familiar with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will be aware that Kashin Koji has taken up the role of Boruto Uzumaki’s mentor, which can be considered an homage to the late Jiraiya, who tutored Naruto. Ikemoto clearly knew what he was doing with the choice. While Kashin Koji may not have accumulated the same level of experience as Jiraiya, he is extremely knowledgeable.
Above all, Koji knows all the futures, and he can guide Boruto in the right direction so that the latter can make the right decisions and prevent the world from being destroyed. One thing that separates Kashin Koji from Jiraiya is the Legendary Sannin’s compassion. Jiraiya adored Naruto, and he took care of him like a family member. Jiraiya knew how Naruto grew up alone without any family, so he made sure to give the young ninja at least a few good memories. Coming back to Kashin Koji’s role, it is plausible to assume that he will remain relevant to the story until Boruto is successful in his goal.

However, the hero will need more than Kashin Koji in his corner to emerge victorious. Obviously, Sarada will be a major ally and without her help, Boruto’s success is far from guaranteed. Aside from Sarada, the two names that most fans will want to see back in the fray are Naruto and Sasuke. Both of them are loved by the masses, and they’re eagerly waiting to see the two ninjas back in action. Naruto and Sasuke have been sidelined for months now, and there has been no real indication that they will return to the fray soon. The lack of screen time for both ninjas is concerning, and many fans have even stopped reading the manga together, which has caused the overall sales to drop. But it’s still not too late for Ikemoto to resolve the situation.
The story is wide open, so there’s still an opportunity for them to return. Needless to say, when that does happen, it will be a day to remember, especially for long-time Naruto fans. Aside from Naruto and Sasuke, there are other legendary characters like Sakura, Kakashi, and Rock Lee who deserve better treatment in the series. Whether or not they will be chosen remains to be seen. For now, Ikemoto’s main priority should remain Naruto and Sasuke.
