Production has officially wrapped for A24’s Elden Ring movie, as revealed in a now-deleted Instagram post from prop artist Sean Schofield.
Schofield shared a photo of a special message celebrating the project from director Alex Garland, as well as producers Allon Reich, Matthew Penry-Davey, Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Charlie Reed.
“Dear cast and crew, thank you for your incredibly hard work on Elden Ring. Your skill, dedication, and all-round professionalism were integral in bringing this unique project to life. We wish you a well-earned rest. Thank you and very best wishes, Alex, Allon, Matthew, Peter, Andrew and Charlie,” the message reads.
The photo shows the small message sitting on top of an Elden Ring-branded backpack and a keychain with a clapboard, which were likely given as gifts to crew working on the film.
“Dream job to end all dream jobs,” Schofield wrote in the post’s caption. “Six solid months of blood, sweat and tears making the coolest stuff ever, working alongside the best of the best. Can’t share anything else for a very long time, but I couldn’t be more proud of what we did.”
It seems that he may have shared this particular bit of news too early, as the post was taken down right in the middle of writing this article. You can’t even find his profile right now, suggesting he made it private.
Production for the video game adaptation started in Spring 2026, with and is scheduled to release on March 3, 2028. That leaves over one year for post-production, which we can imagine will be quite demanding on the special effects team, given the not-insignificant amount of CGI that will likely be needed to bring George R. R. Martin and Miyazaki’s vision to life.
This is the latest news to surface from the film after a series of set photos leaked online in April, shortly after production began, showing the execution of the Dung Eater and Queen Marika, played by Emma Laird. As noted by IGN’s own Wesley Yin-Poole, this hints that the events in the film will likely take place before the game, exploring what life was like before the Lands Between were wracked by The Shattering.
Other information gleaned from the photos strongly suggested that the Royal Capital city of Leyndell will make an appearance in the movie, as could Stormveil Castle, thanks to labels plastered atop boxes on set. Props were also spotted that hint the Academy of Raya Lucaria will somehow get worked in.
A24’s Elden Ring cast includes stars like Nick Offerman, Havana Rose Liu, Jonathan Pryce, Peter Serafinowicz, Cailee Spaeny, with a reported budget of more than $100 million. The arthouse studio is sparing no expense for this flick, and we can’t wait to see how they tackle the Lands Between come March 2028.
