There are 5 Gold Skulltulas and 9 Gorons to rescue in the Fire Temple for the Ocarina of Time remake. You might want to know where each of them is, which is why we’ve assembled a full and comprehensive walkthrough of the Fire Temple, including how to reach this temple in the first place! All the necessary information, puzzles, collectibles, and boss guide can be found below.
How to Enter the Fire Temple in the Ocarina of Time Remake
To begin, head to Kakariko Village and make your way to Death Mountain. You will need to enter Goron City and speak with the Goron child, who will then run away. Throw a bomb at the Goron’s path to stun him, and he will then give you the Goron Tunic and open the secret path in Darunia’s room.
Make sure you wear the Goron Tunic for this part!
Inside Darunia’s room, pull out the statue and enter the Death Mountain Crater. Stick to the left path and use the Hookshot to get to the entrance of the Fire Temple, where you will learn the Bloero of Fire song from Sheik.
Fire Temple 100% Walkthrough in the Ocarina of Time Remake
Step #1 – Goron and the Small Key (1/9)
Head up the stairs and enter the west door to find Darunia.
When he leaves, you will want to jump across the left platforms to find a Goron trapped in a room. Stand on the pressure plate, speak with him, then open the chest to get the Small Key.
Step #2 – Goron and the Small Key (2/9)
Head back into the starting chamber and use the Small Key on the locked door to the right.
This is a large room with a bridge, but ignore the bridge for now. Instead, head left and continue north to find another Goron and a chest containing a Small Key.
Step #3 – Gold Skulltula (1/5)
Opposite the Goron is a stone block that you can stand on, which will rise up instead of going down. Go across the pillar to the elevated section and play the Song of Time on the floor to move the time block, which you can now climb.
Inside the room, you will find a Like Like, and behind it, a Gold Skulltula. Ignore the Like Like, just take the Gold Skulltula, then return to the room where you freed the Goron.
Step #4 – Goron and the Small Key (3/9)
From the main room with the bridge, head south to find a rock wall that you can explode with a bomb. Inside, you will find the 3rd Goron, with just 6 left to go!
Step #5 – Dungeon Map
Head to the east of the large bridge and you will find a locked door, which can be opened with one of the two Small Keys you have. Inside, you will find a pillar of fire, but behind it is another door to use your Small Key on.
Climb up and push the stone block off the edge onto the pillar of fire. You can now stand on the stone block, which will shoot into the air and take you to 2F.
Head to the southwest corner and pull out the stone block and push it towards the ledge you can’t reach. Now, hit the purple light to disable the fire and move forward. Use your Fairy Bow to shoot the blue crystal to deactivate the next fire, then climb up to 3F.
You will now be in a large room filled with burning boulders. Immediately head south to find a treasure chest that contains the Dungeon Map.
Step #6 – Gold Skulltula (2/5)
Run to the north area of the room and find the wall on the right, which can be exploded with a bomb. Inside this small room, you will find your next Gold Skulltula.
Step #7 – Goron and the Small Key (4/9)
Left of the Gold Skulltula, continue north to find a trapped Goron, which can be freed and talked to just like the rest to get a Small Key.
Step #8 – Compass
From the 4th Goron, turn around and unlock the door in front of you. Inside this room, look to your right and use the Fairy Bow to shoot the glowing eye.
You can now enter the room in front of you to find a treasure chest containing the Compass.
Step #9 – Goron and the Small Key (5/9)
Leave the room and enter the door to the left of the glowing eye. You need to run across the metal structures and avoid the fire (ignore the locked door on the left for now). At the end, there’s a stone block you can push to access the upper area of 3F.
From the upper platforms, keep to the right and navigate to the south area of the room. You will find a Goron here that you can free with the pressure plate.
Step #10 – Goron and the Small Key (6/9)
From the upper platforms, navigate to the center and use a bomb on the rock floor to blow it up. You can enter to find the 6th Goron. Once acquired, climb the walls to get back to 3F.
Step #11 – Gold Skulltula (3/5)
Head back to the room with the metal floors and the chasing fire. Continue to the end of the platform and look behind you. Play the Scarecrow’s Song to summon Pierre, and then use the Hookshot to reach him. You can now climb the netting up to 5F. You will find a Gold Skulltula on the north wall above.
Step #12 – Gold Skulltula (4/5)
Continue into the next room, and you will find your next Gold Skulltula on the wall (shown above), so use your Hookshot to pull it towards you. This room has three chests, but they are only rupees, so don’t worry about trying to get them.
Step #13 – Goron and the Small Key (7/9)
Now that the detours are over, return to the room with the metal bridge and fire, and jump up the left pillar to open the locked door with your Small Key. This will unlock a fire maze room. Head northeast, and you will find the next Goron to rescue!
Step #14 – Megaton Hammer
At the south side of the room, you can find a locked door when facing north (as shown above). This will allow you to safely reach the north side of the room, where you can grab a stone cube and throw it over the fence.
Navigate the fire walls and place the stone cube on the pressure plate. This will disable the fire and allow you to run into the northwest room with your Small Key.
The room contains a Fire Dancer, and you need to use the Hookshot to pull it towards you and slash it with your sword. When he is defeated, stand on the central pillar to take an elevator up to 4F.
There’s a crystal here that you need to activate, and you can do so by throwing the Bomb Flowers to give you enough time to sprint to the end of the room and climb the ladder.
In this room, stand on the pressure plate and run up the stairs to get the Megaton Hammer from the treasure chest, which is a vital tool needed for the rest of the rooms and the boss fight!
Step #15 – Goron and the Small Key (8/9)
With your Megaton Hammer, hit the metallic pressure plate to drop down below. You can then use the Megaton Hammer to hit the stone structure blocking the northeast door.
Continue through the rooms with your Megaton Hammer, and you will eventually reach a thick stone wall, which, again, can be crushed with the Megaton Hammer. Use the Song of Time on the cube, then free the Goron with the Megaton Hammer.
Step #16 – Gold Skulltula (5/5)
Continue on the path from the freed Goron, and you can hit another plate with the Megaton Hammer to drop down back to the boss room. Once here, head east to the starting room and go down the stairs, facing north, to smash the stones with your Megaton Hammer. You can then unlock the door with your final Small Key.
Defeat all the Torch Slugs, and you will be able to open the next room. Inside, there will be another Like Like and a stone wall to break with your Megaton Hammer to reveal a Gold Skulltula for you to grab.
Step #17 – Goron and the Boss Key (9/9)
Once the final Gold Skulltula is obtained, head into the next room by hitting the stones with your Megaton Hammer, where you will have to fight another Flame Dancer, but don’t worry, this one is a lot easier with the Megaton Hammer.
Once defeated, head through the next room to find your last Goron, who will give you the Boss Key! You can now head back to the boss room.
How to Beat Volvagia in the Ocarina of Time Remake
Volvagia is a very simple boss fight. This Subterranean Lava Dragon will drop into the lava holes and then emerge. When it does, you can hit its metallic forehead with the Megaton Hammer to stun it, then repeatedly hit it again with the Megaton Hammer or Master Sword. Repeat this cycle until the dragon dies, then you will get a Heart Container and the Fire Medallion!
