The protagonist of My Hero Academia, Izuku Midoriya, is one of the strongest characters that exist in the series. Izuku was bestowed with the power of One For All at the very beginning, and he ended up wielding this power right up until the very end, when he lost it.
However, before My Hero Academia wrapped up, Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist, was given yet another power upgrade by the creator, Kohei Horikoshi, in the form of a new Hero Armor. As seen in the one-shot published by Horikoshi with his Ultra Age artbook, Izuku’s armor has powered him up significantly and allowed him to become a Pro Hero once again. Now, Izuku is set to receive further awakenings as a fighter and grow even stronger in the future releases of My Hero Academia, if the author ever intends to return to the franchise.
My Hero Academia Gives New One For All Powers To Izuku Midoriya
The biggest upgrade that Izuku Midoriya received in My Hero Academia towards the end was the return of his One For All powers, although through a completely different source. One For All was initially passed on to Izuku by none other than All Might, and the power of this quirk was such that it eventually made Izuku a monstrously strong Hero, capable of holding his own against the likes of Shigaraki Tomura and even All For One. Unfortunately, One For All could not be maintained forever. In order to create an opening and defeat Shigaraki and All For One once and for all, Izuku Midoriya had to sacrifice this quirk, which is what he ended up doing in the end. When Izuku sacrificed the power of One For All, he was left with nothing but its embers. Eventually, these embers also burnt out, as was revealed to us in the last chapter of the series, which was released on August 5, 2024.
“I wanted to give you a special gift. The data from my fight against All For One opened up room for crazy possibilities. Technology has continued to evolve alongside Quirks. Take this to heart, kid. This too is a power you’ve earned, fair and square.” — All Might gives Deku his Armor, My Hero Academia Chapter #430
In the very same chapter, Izuku Midoriya received new powers in the form of new Hero Armor. Later down the line, in the official guidebook for My Hero Academia, written by Horikoshi and his editors, the creator went on to confirm that Izuku Midoriya regained the powers of One For All thanks to the new hero armor. Essentially, this armor is made to replicate all of One For All’s abilities that Izuku once held, and as a result, it can be said that Izuku essentially regained One For All in this new release. That said, we haven’t seen the full potential of Izuku’s hero armor yet. Horikoshi has not given us any new combat sequences, nor has he expanded upon his story much following the release of chapter 431 of the manga, but that could very well change at some point later down the line.
Question: How does the armor that Deku received from Class A function?
Horikoshi: It tries to mimic various OFA abilities; for example, it has cable extensions that function like his ability, Black Whip. It also serves as a prototype where he can try to combine various abilities.

Why Izuku’s New Powers Will Continue To Evolve In MHA
Izuku Midoriya’s abilities are most certainly going to evolve because he primarily relies on his Hero Armor in battle. It was revealed in My Hero Academia chapter 430 that science has evolved and progressed by leaps and bounds in the 8-year timeskip, but the progress of science did not stop there. With more time, science will continue to evolve, and better technology will emerge. At the same time, Izuku Midoriya’s capabilities will continue to grow as well because he is entirely reliant on science as things stand.
Furthermore, Izuku’s vestige abilities, which Horikoshi himself confirmed that he still wields through his Hero Armor, will grow significantly stronger as science grows as well. For instance, the strength of his black whip can be increased dramatically, as will abilities like Fa Jin, Smokescreen, or even Danger Sense, with technological advancements. All things considered, Izuku Midoriya is set to receive a new One For All awakening in the future of My Hero Academia, and that is something that excites us all.
That said, it is very important to note that as Izuku’s powers grow, so will the threat posed by science to the entire world. Izuku Midoriya isn’t the only individual with advanced scientific technology, and there will come powerful villains who will seek it for themselves. This sets up a completely new stage for My Hero Academia, where technology could end up becoming one of the key enemies of the Heroes and the Hero Society overall. This sets up an exciting premise for My Hero Academia and an opening for Horikoshi to return to the franchise if he ever wills it.
Next My Hero Academia Update Will Show Izuku’s New Power Awakening
My Hero Academia is set to get a new update by Kohei Horikoshi himself at Jump Festa 2027. The series is set to hold its own Jump Super Stage on December 19 and 20, as has already been confirmed by Shueisha. New projects for My Hero Academia will be announced on this day, and we are all eagerly waiting to see if this is a continuation of the story, be it through a short manga or through a new movie release.
In either case, we know that Horikoshi left the door open when he ended My Hero Academia, and that this franchise can be expanded upon drastically in the years to come. Whenever Horikoshi makes a comeback to My Hero Academia, it will be incredibly exciting to see him draw new powers for Izuku Midoriya. As science evolves, Izuku will continue to grow stronger and gain newer Awakenings. These new powers will also help him get closer to the position of Number One Hero, which he is within touching distance of.
Izuku will have to compete with the likes of Bakugo, Mount Lady, and Shoto Todoroki, as well as Mirio Togata, to get to this goal, and he will most certainly go on to achieve it later down the line. At the same time, the evolution of science will also set up exciting villains for Izuku and all his friends to take on as adult Pro Heroes, and a short story based on such a setting would be delightful for all of us fans to consume. Hopefully, Horikoshi delivers another exciting update to us when he makes a comeback at Jump Festa 2027.
All the chapters of My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi are available to read via Manga Plus and Viz Media. The anime is available to stream in its entirety on Crunchyroll. The next My Hero Academia update is anticipated on December 19, 2026.
