Solo Leveling: 5 Strongest Characters Who Rival Sung Jinwoo, Ranked

Solo Leveling: 5 Strongest Characters Who Rival Sung Jinwoo, Ranked

Sung Jinwoo is one of the most powerful fictional characters in history. The main character of Solo Leveling, Sung Jinwoo can use the mysterious System to level up, allocate stats, purchase new weapons, and gain classes that grant him the ability to bring the dead back to life. Between his Shadow Army and his own overwhelmingly powerful abilities, Sung Jinwoo is functionally unbeatable. Even Goku would struggle to fight him.

Sung Jinwoo is truly in a league of his own, but he’s finally starting to meet his match as of Solo Leveling Ragnarok. While Sung Jinwoo holds off the Itarim as humanity’s last hope, other characters in the Solo Leveling universe have started to finally catch up to him. In what is one of the most impressive feats in fiction, only the strongest Solo Leveling characters have what it takes to rival Sung Jinwoo, and they can all be counted on one hand.

Antares Was the Strongest Opponent Sung Jinwoo Ever Fought in the Original Solo Leveling

As the final villain in the original Solo Leveling, Antares is the only character in the series who ever truly rivaled Sung Jinwoo. Antares gives Sung Jinwoo his greatest fight ever. For the first time, Sung Jinwoo truly has to push himself to his absolute limits and isn’t guaranteed victory. The King of Dragons is overwhelmingly powerful and easily the strongest of the Monarchs (outside Sung Jinwoo, of course).

Antares is the only foe in Solo Leveling who Sung Jinwoo cannot defeat through brute force. Virtually every attack Jinwoo throws at Antares is countered or dodged. In the end, Sung Jinwoo only beats Antares by outsmarting him and setting up a scenario where the Rulers take out the Monarch of Destruction for him. Wielding far greater power, speed, and intellect than any other villain in Solo Leveling, Antares was Sung Jinwoo’s greatest challenge in the original series.

Thomas Andre Has Finally Caught Up To Sung Jinwoo Again

The #1 Ranked National Level Hunter in the world and America’s strongest S-Rank Hunter, Thomas Andre was the pinnacle of what humanity was capable of before Sung Jinwoo redefined the hierarchy of power with his use of the System. Thomas Andre will actually be stronger than Sung Jinwoo for most of Solo Leveling Season 3, but it won’t take long for the Monarch of Shadows to surpass the Goliath for the rest of the series.

That said, Thomas Andre gets a massive power-up in Solo Leveling Ragnarok that finally brings him back up to Sung Jinwoo’s level. Thomas Andre goes on to become the Monarch of Conquests, succeeding Legia as the King of Giants. Not a Monarch, Thomas Andre is the strongest he’s ever been and finally powerful enough to be able to assist Sung Jinwoo in his war against the Itarim.

Cha Hae-In is One of the Most Powerful S-Rank Hunters in Ragnarok

Cha Hae-In is one of the strongest S-Rank Hunters in South Korea when she’s originally introduced in Solo Leveling, but the series’ power scaling means she falls behind far quicker than a character of her reputation and importance deserves. By the end of the original Webtoon and web novel, she’s more or less useless during the final battle. Everything changed for Cha Hae-In in the revised Ragnarok timeline, when she became pregnant with Sung Suho.

Since Sung Suho is Sung Jinwoo’s son, he was conceived with the same potential for power as his father. The universe essentially treated Sung Suho like a Ruler while he was in the womb, which, in turn, technically made Cha Hae-In a Ruler’s Vessel. By containing the power of a Ruler inside of her for so long, Cha Hae-In’s capacity for power and mana increased exponentially. In Solo Leveling Ragnarok, she goes on to fight and destroy an Apostle of Itarim, putting her in a higher tier of power than even National Level Hunters.

Sung Suho is Destined to Surpass His Father One Day

Solo Leveling Ragnarok Sung Suho volume 1 english release yen press

Born at the end of the original Solo Leveling and the main character of Solo Leveling Ragnarok, Sung Suho is Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In’s extremely overpowered son. Sung Suho has even more potential than his dad, and is one of the strongest members of Sung Jinwoo’s family, second only to Sung Jinwoo himself. Like his father, Sung Suho can use the System to level up, raise his stats, purchase and store new items, and learn new abilities.

Sung Suho also has access to his own Shadow Army, and can transform by using Beast Possession to fuse with his Shadow Wolf, Grey, making him even stronger than he already is. On top of inheriting all of his father’s powers, Sung Suho levels up much faster than Sung Jinwoo, and already has higher stats at a lower level than his dad did during the events of the original Solo Leveling. Sung Suho still has a way to go before he’s pulling off the same OP feats as Sung Jinwoo, but he’s going to surpass his father much sooner than anyone realizes.

The Itarim Are Sung Jinwoo’s Greatest Challenge Yet

jinwoo itarim Jinwoo stoically stands next to a frame of the God statue. (Solo Leveling)

The Itarim are the main villains of Solo Leveling Ragnarok, and creators of the entire Solo Leveling universe. The Itarim are Outer Gods that exist outside the fabric of Solo Leveling‘s reality, but can still very much influence the world. The Outer Gods are omniscient, omnipotent, and more or less immortal, making them impossible opponents to hold back, let alone defeat – unless you’re Sung Jinwoo, that is.

Sung Jinwoo is the only Solo Leveling character strong enough to pose a real threat against the Itarim, and he’s currently spent most of Ragnarok keeping them at bay. While Sung Jinwoo is not powerful enough to defeat all the Outer Gods by himself, he’s biding time for Sung Suho to grow stronger and finally give humanity a fighting chance against the Itarim, all without needing the Rulers’ help.
