New cast members have been revealed for The Last of Us third and final season, and it seems the show’s end is shaping up to be quite the thriller with acting legend John Goodman entering the fray. He’ll be accompanied by video game voice actors Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander.
As Deadline reports, the third and final season of The Last of Us has announced three new cast members: John Goodman, Laura Bailey, and Ian Alexander. While the latter two have prior experience in The Last of Us video games, Goodman has largely steered clear of both TLOU and video games in general, though he, too, has some video game credits to his name.
Goodman and Alexander both play new characters, Joey and Paco, respectively, who form a duo called “Heroes of the Highway,” according to Deadline. On the other hand, Bailey will play a leader of the Seraphites cult from the games called Elizabeth.
John Goodman is best known for his roles in gripping thrillers, where he usually plays typecast strangers with anger issues, though he does have experience with family-friendly comedies as well. In video games, Goodman appeared in Ubisoft’s Rage and adaptations of the Monsters Inc. animated films but has largely avoided gaming overall.
One of his most iconic roles is in 10 Cloverfield Lane, where he plays a paranoid prepper in a post-apocalyptic world, an experience that could lend itself perfectly to his role in TLOU.
Ian Alexander, on the other hand, appeared in The Last of Us: Part II, where they played Lev, a member of the Seraphites and close member of Abby’s. Bailey voiced Abby herself in The Last of Us: Part II and is the most experienced of these newly announced members when it comes to gaming, with dozens of roles across various genres.
Most recently, she played Invisigal in Dispatch, which we praised for its exceptional writing and voice acting, among other things.
The third and final season of The Last of Us comes out next year, with the exact dates TBD.
