Out of all the Hidden Villages that exist in the world of the Boruto franchise, Konoha has always been considered among the most powerful, being home to some of the strongest characters in the series. From the first ever God of Shinobi, Hashirama Senju, to the savior of the Shinobi World, Naruto Uzumaki, the Hidden Leaf has proven time and time again that their ninjas are of the highest caliber.Yet, many fans question whether the new generation of warriors being raised inside the walls of this city is ready to maintain this legacy.
Despite the Hidden Leaf having been attacked by some of the strongest villains in the series’ history, it has become clear to readers of the Boruto manga that there seems to be a lack of response from Konoha’s forces. A large part of the fandom believes that, besides a handful of prominent examples, like the titular protagonist, the Genin and Chunin of Konoha seem to have lost the fire that once inspired fear in the hearts of the surrounding nations. Has Konoha’s new generation truly lost the spark?
It’s Time To Leave Naruto Behind, And Accept Konoha’s Next Hokage
Konoha will have a new Hokage. Naruto might never be Hokage again in Boruto.
Konoha’s New Generation Is Extremely Talented
Over the years, as the Boruto manga and anime series have been given time to properly develop, fans have become disillusioned by the members of the Next Generation. Despite being children of the brave warriors who defended their world from threats like Madara or Orochimaru, considered some of the most ruthless anime villains of all time, the kids seemed to be far weaker than their parents at their age. While this argument can be understood, it does not hold any truth, as the members of Konoha’s latest generation are among the most powerful Genin and Chunin to ever live.
Team 7 is the obvious example, all children of some of history’s greatest ninjas, who have shown potential ever since they were first introduced. The Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga has only cemented the power behind these characters, as Boruto, Kawaki, and even Sarada are now leagues above their parents at their age. Still, they are not the only younger ninjas in Konoha who have exhibited great potential. While most of these achievements come from the anime’s best filler episodes, each of the Hidden Leaf’s children has exhibited impressive skills.
10 Boruto Characters That Are Beyond Kage Level
Boruto characters are strong, and many of them have even surpassed the level of a Kage.
Some, like Shikadai or Inojin, have been able to master some of their clans’ most powerful techniques at an early age, as well as develop their own fighting style based on both their parents’. Chocho and Metal Lee, often overlooked for their gentler personalities, have already far surpassed the level of their parents as Genin. Even Himawari, one of the youngest Genin in Konoha, has been hinted at having a potential even higher than that of Naruto. Realistically, the Genin and Chunin of Konoha’s new generation are far above their predecessors in terms of raw power.
Why Does The New Generation Seem so Weak?
During his childhood, Naruto and his friends faced powerful opponents, far superior to them in terms of power and experience. Even with every odd against them, the future Seventh Hokage and his comrades were always able to emerge victorious from combat. This, alongside the vast potential they exhibited during fights, made it easy for fans to see them as prodigies that would one day take the Shinobi World by storm. Lamentably, the cast of Boruto was never awarded this chance.
From the very beginning of the series, the children of Konoha’s next generation are pitted against some of the most terrifying creatures in the universe, the strong members of the alien Otsutsuki clan. Given that these extraterrestrial beings were powerful enough to overpower characters like Naruto or Sasuke, there was little to no chance of the children ever being strong enough to defeat them on their own. When faced against regular, everyday Shinobi, Konoha’s Genin have proven more than capable of defeating them quickly and effectively.
It’s Time To Accept Naruto’s Biggest Failure As The Seventh Hokage Of Konoha
Naruto has failed as a Hokage. His biggest mistake has been revealed in Boruto.
Woefully, as the story of Boruto leaves behind average Shinobi to focus on the intergalactic threats, like Jura and his group of God Tree Clones, it has become increasingly difficult for the next generation to shine. They may be among the most powerful children in Naruto’s history, but they are still that, only children. It would be impossible for them to defeat someone like Isshiki, who forced Naruto to utilize his most powerful technique, Baryon Mode, to barely win the fight.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Is Currently Giving The Next Gen the Spotlight
Although it is an undeniable fact that the original Boruto series greatly underutilized most of Konoha’s Next Generation, its sequel, Two Blue Vortex, is slowly working to fix these issues. The three-year time skip not only brought some amazing new designs, but it also gave the kids time to grow and learn. The titular protagonist and his adoptive brother, Kawaki, are the most obvious examples, given that they were already plenty powerful before. Nonetheless, there are many more examples of massive growth among Konoha’s Next Generation.
Inojin, the son of Ino and Sai, has proven himself as a brave and resourceful warrior, not only due to his willingness to put his life on the line for his friends, but also thanks to his new ability: Mind Body Transmission Formation. This technique, which is by far one of the most powerful new Jutsu in the manga, allows him to connect to several targets and use their Chakra network as an echolocation device. It was only thanks to this power that the heroes were able to coordinate the attack against Mamushi.
Boruto: Best Fights In The Anime, Ranked
The Boruto series is laced with riveting battles and thrilling fights. Here’s a look at some of the best ones in the anime.
Sarada and Himawari are also amazing exponents of the New Generation’s potential. The Uchiha girl has awakened what could become the most overpowered of all Mangekyo Sharingan techniques, Ohirume, which creates small black holes that disintegrate everything they absorb. Naruto’s daughter has been revealed to be the new Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, and she has been hinted at as being an even better match than her father. While it might take some time, it is possible that soon, the once underestimated children of Konoha will rise to the occasion and prove their might in battle.
