Difficult terrain and natural hazards aren’t the only things that will stop you in your climb in PEAK. There are 13 monsters in PEAK with the release of The Final Ascent, and of these monsters, most can be beaten, and those that can’t can still be countered to ensure they won’t cause you a game-ruining time. Below, you’ll find details on all monsters in PEAK, along with what they do, where you can find them, and how you can defeat them.
All Monsters in PEAK (Locations, Effects, & How to Beat)

Effect & Location |
How to Beat |
|---|---|---|
|
Antlions |
Antlions hide under an Explorer’s Luggage in a sand pit, and burst out to inflict 20 Injury on each hit. Only found in the MESA biome. |
If you see an Explorer’s Luggage in a hole, ignore it. Alternatively, deploy a Rope Spool so you can safely climb out of the pit. |
|
Beetles |
Beetles will chase you down to hit you, which causes you to ragdoll. The hit doesn’t cause Injury, but falling off a cliff might. Only found in the ROOTS biome. |
Beetles don’t like to leave their home, so run away from them, and they are unlikely to chase you for long. |
|
Bees |
Bees protect their Beehives and deal 2.5 Poison every second that you stay near them. Only found in TROPICS and ROOTS biomes. |
Throw something at the Beehive and run away to get the Bees to disperse, then pick up the smashed Beehive for 4x Honeycomb to eat. |
|
Crows |
Crows are a non-threat and will never attack you. They sit perched on towers, and their nests often have Small Eggs that can be smashed to eat the Egg inside. Only found in the GLOOM biome. |
Approach the Crow to make it fly away so you can grab the contents of its nest. |
|
Ghosts |
Ghosts spawn if you linger in the fog for too long. They will charge up a blast that makes you ragdoll and causes Cold along with temporary blindness. Only found in the GLOOM biome. |
Ghosts are slow, so you can outrun them. You can kill Ghosts with Belltowers, Candlesticks, Lanterns, Faerie Lanterns, and Portable Stoves. |
|
Frogs |
Frogs can spot you from 40 meters away and will grab you with their tongues to pull you into the fog. Only found in the GLOOM biome. |
There is a 6-second cooldown between being grabbed by a Frog. You can pick up the Frogs to cook them into Frog Logs or throw them away. |
|
Jellyfish |
Inflicts 5 Poison when stepped on and causes you to slip. Only found in the SHORE biome. |
If you see a slimy purple thing on the ground, just walk around it. |
|
Ticks |
Random chance to latch onto you if you walk through plants. The Tick will inflict Poison damage until it’s removed. Only spawns in the TROPICS biome. |
When you start randomly taking Poison damage, look down at your body to try and find a Tick that you can remove (and eat). |
|
Scorpions |
Scorpions wander the caves and cliffs and will sting you to inflict Poison if held for too long or stepped on. Only found in the MESA biome. |
Scorpions can be blown up and eaten with Dynamite, and you can quickly pick them up and throw them off the cliff before they raise their stinger. |
|
Scoutmaster Myers |
The Scoutmaster will target the player furthest from the team and will throw them off the cliff and cause 25 Injury each time they’re grabbed. Only spawns if you are 160m away from other players. |
The Scoutmaster only spawns if the highest player is 160 meters apart from the other players. To avoid the Scoutmaster, stay with your friends. If you get the Scoutmaster’s Bugle, DO NOT USE IT, or it will summon him for 2 minutes. You can also cure the Scoutmaster with the Rule Zero Badge. |
|
Sea Urchins |
Inflicts 10 Poison when touched. Only found in the SHORE biome. |
If you see a sharp object in the SHORE biome, it’s best to give it a wide berth. |
|
Spiders |
Spiders hang from trees and cliffs and will grab you, ensnaring you to inflict Web and Poison. Only found in the ROOTS biome. |
Look up in the ROOTS biome to watch out for spider webs and hanging spiders. If you are caught, spam the Spacebar button to get free, or have an ally throw something at the spider. |
|
Zombies |
Zombies chase after players in an effort to bite them, inflicting Spores and Injury. Being bitten by a Zombie also causes an infection, and if left untreated, causes you to turn into a Zombie at 50 Spores. Only found in the ROOTS biome. |
Run away from zombies and cure yourself from their bites by reducing Spores to zero: Cure-Alls First Aid Kits Antidotes Medicinal Roots Remedy Fungus Faerie Lanterns |
